Hurricane Howie, the "best looking guy in BB history", who gave us the BUSTO rant. Will he screw up his alliance's plans again this season?

Bio
GodrockDJ
He's looking for another BUSTO!
uaintjak
I love you Hurricane Howie! Bring it to 'em! And don't forget your lightsaber.
Ubershauna
I STILL listen to that Busto rant every so often! he has to make the cut, it would be a travesty if he dosen't. We love you Howie!
jennknee
I'm kind of....not really sold on Howie.

I don't love him. I loved the Hurricane Howie rant of 2005, but I was always a little irritated by this guy. AND he did F-up the game for the good team last year. That's just dumb.

Having said that, I have chosen to nominate...opps, sorry just used to those two phrases coming together as a pair...having said that, I actively dislike at least 8 of the other choices, so I suppose he get's my vote.
uaintjak
Hey...if Howie ends up in the house with Allison, do you think they'd hook up? That might be worth seeing. I mean, not like...seeing seeing, I don't want to actually watch it. That would be totally gross. But you know what I mean. Right? Right? <cricket>
Highwaygirl
It cracks me up that his official bio on the CBS website lists his occupation as "Light Saber Sales."
Captain Savem
It took a couple weeks for the Hurricane to grow on me but he did. I feel that BB is only gonna allow a maximum of three people from any given season. I think Kaysar and Janie are in from S6. Regardless of whether or not they get the votes. Howie is gonna need the people's vote in order to get in. I think if Arnie has to choose he'll go with James from that season. I hope I'm wrong.

Perhaps he could unleash a new-fangled Busto rant on Aliscum? If anyone is deserving, it's her.
sunnykerr
Big Brother without Howie would be a travesty indeed. We'll need some fun, we always do. And nobody brings it like Howie does. :D
siandam
It cracks me up that he still thinks he's the best looking House Guest EVER! I mean he's built, but not that good looking.
Lausana
Howie! Definitely a yes.

I'd love for him to go off on Allison, and probably give Ivette what she's got coming if she's back.

Hee! I was going to post the same thing.

Wasn't he the one with all the gross stories?

If so, major no.

Not to mention, the wonderful "Jack Shack"!!

I wouldn't mind seeing Howie in again, for his sheer lunacy, but he's really not all that good a game player. If he's smart enough (heh) to realize that and let someone else do the thinking, he would do fine.

I think he proved last season that he can—at least sometimes—be just smart enough to do that. And the sheer lunacy would be great.

Not bright, not that good-looking...but freaking HILARIOUS! Who will be the next Busto???
ca_girl
I want a rematch of his & Janelle's light saber fight!
forever1267
He's the hottest of the men they listed, so he's got my eyecandy vote. Plus he's funny, so he's got that vote, too. He and Janelle will make a perfect tag team of hilarious hotness.

Welcome to HT, forever1267 - we ask that posters refrain from using sigs. Thanks! Mrs. Gryn
Just Kimmie
Hotter than KAYSAR? No fuggin' way!! With you all the way on the Howie-Janelle Variety Show, though!
Hawkey
I suppose I may be in the minority here, but I really wouldn't like to see Howie again. He just seemed very unintelligent. If I had my choice, BB7 would have all the smart game players who know how to play the game.
Although his Busto rant was amusing, I don't even think he was that funny the rest of the season.
kayleigh
But that's what I like about Howie. He plays like he's a himbo, but he's really not. Granted, he's not a good game player, but he's not dumb either. I hated him at first with all of his talk about banging chicks, but when he was alone with Rachel or Janey, he seemed like he was actually listening to them and sympathizing and all that. Plus, he gives really good verbal abuse when it's necessary.

And I might be alone here, but I liked the Jack Shack. But I'm sick.
elmothefuzzy
I actually like Howie. He's a tool but a very lite tool unlike Jase. For me last season he provided a lot of humor.
Just Kimmie
Howie: Tool LITE!

I think we've got a new nickname, here. Brilliant!!
TynRose
I love Howie!!! He has to be there! He's just so funny!
ANGIGRL65
I didn't realize I missed Howie till I saw him again, he has to make it on. I think he keeps the show interesting because you never know what is going to come out of his mouth next. I just hope he got himself some new underwear lol. I wish I had saved the busto rant, that thing could of come in handy many times on boring days
strawberry truck
I had forgotten how hilarious Howie was until they showed the clips. I loved reading the recappers coverage of the live feeds. Some of his funniest stuff was not aired. He's funny, but exhausting
uaintjak
Just came across this:

I LOVE YOU HOWIE! Turning your boobie love into something good...that's just like a Jedi. How can you NOT love him?
AnnieMoon
I don't know...I liked a lot of things about Howie and he definitely had some great moments, but his constant sexual comments and come-ons were really disgusting and tiresome. If I thought he would tone that down I'd be all for him coming back in the house, but I don't think that'll be the case. And given some of the various poll results online as to how people are voting, I think I have to resign myself to the Howie the Misogynist Show yet again this summer.

Whenever you have an unpopular opinion, it's nice to see you're not the only one.
Aplomb
The weird thing for me was, I found the sexual comments disgusting and tiresome at first, but eventually got used to them and they often were funny again. He had good timing, and used them in context to disarm the others. Somehow, they didn't come off degrading to women but self deprecating in an odd way. It was harmless in a way that practically no other man on earth could pull off, especially with all the repetition. I can't really explain it.

Interestingly, the women, especially in the Nerd Herd, would sometimes try to get offended when they decided it was time to hate Howie for some reason, but no one really seemed to have their heart in it and they would concentrate on ripping him for other reasons. All of the women seemed to like bantering with him (excepting of course the Busto day and a couple other times), save Maggie, and Maggie was the one he almost never made boobie comments about. Again, can't explain that either.
Snooky
Because Maggie is asexual?

I feel the same. I SHOULD be more offended by Howie, but I'm just not. There's a strange innocence about his remarks, which a wiseass like Jase doesn't display. It's like when they showed that clip of him watching a lady walk by, and he was gazing longingly at her ass. That cracked my husband up, and I laughed, too. It seemed so genuine, like he just really really appreciates a fine female butt--and hadn't had any in a while. Jase, on the other hand, could make you feel skeevy if he did the same thing.

Nevertheless, Jase seems better than he used to be, beecause he seems about to laugh at how stupid he behaved in the house--which is more than I can say for Booger. But this is the Howie thread, so that's all of that for now!
Aplomb
I think maybe the reason it worked was Howie kept it at a constant level from the beginning, got everyone used to that level, and then never escalated.

If you first meet a guy who is spouting off about boobies and asking inappropriate questions and talking about his boners and stuff, you are wondering how long it's going to be before he sexually assaults someone, and it creeps you out. I think that happened to some of the houseguests and those of us watching closely in the first week or two.

Howie though establised a line early, which is far beyond what most of us would think of was the appropriate line, but was careful not to cross it. Once he became friends with Janelle, who was the target of the majority of this stuff from him, but never escalated beyond endless boobie talk and some friendly hugs and cheek kisses, I think everyone relaxed and got used to the clownish nature of it and could laugh on those occasions when it was delivered with especial skill as opposed to mere repetition. Janelle figured out early this was his attempt at comedy and not a real sexual advance, and once she started responding as such everone else could relax.

If Howie actually made a serious move on one of the women in the house, whether or not it was rebuffed, the perception of him in the house would have been far, far different. Because he didn't escalate, Howie made most of us comfortable and actually appreciative in terms of humor of some of the blatantly obnoxious and inappropriate behavior. Some people may think his behavior should never be condoned, in any context, and intellectually I agree with that, but somehow Howie pulled it off in a way that I think was harmless and sometimes funny.
kayleigh
Exactly. It's as if he's so over the top, I just can't even find it in me to be offended -- he seems harmless. Unlike Mike Boogie, when he said whatever about listening to a girl for the first time, I'm just not convinced he's really joking, because it's not funny (as per usual). Maybe it comes down to having a good natured attitude most of the time -- Howie can pull off those remarks (for some) because he seems like he's having fun (and making fun of himself while doing it), while Boogie is an asshole who might just semi-stalk you in a kimomo and pounce on you when you're all full of Nyquil (this is the general you), or prey on you just for a vote. Howie seems aware of the boundaries, and while he might push it at times, I think he's aware of going too far with things.

I can totally see why people wouldn't like Howie's schtick. But, can't help it, I'm amused by boobies and light sabers from a thirty-whatever year old man.

uaintjak
It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Howie is a child at heart.

Look at poor Michael, who BJenn labeled a "sexual predator" and thus started the whole Cappy/Mike fight.

The Schwa Sound
Once the pairings were revealed, he also had Rachel as a shield. She seemed so sensible, so normal (to me at least) that you just couldn't believe that she'd be friends with Howie if he really was a huge perv.
MrsGryn
I think Rachel is what did it for me, too. On the live feeds we would see him being very respectful of her. I also think Howie is a genuinely kind person, Busto rants aside.

Exactly! To me, after the initial "eww" factor, Howie came across like a kid who thinks it's funny to say "boobies". He never gave off a threatening vibe, and really seemed more silly than anything else. The women who were in the house with him didn't take him seriously, so I figured I shouldn't either. To me, he seemed like a not-too-bright goofball with a good heart underneath it all.
TVJunkie
For me, I found Howie to be amusing and seemingly harmless in the beginning. There were a few folks out there in internet-land who found his rantings no better or worse than Michael, and I staunchly defended Howie because he never laid hands on anyone whereas Michael had been told by some of the women they didn't want to be kissed, touched, etc. .. yet he continued to do so.

However, about half way through the show? Damn. I was sick of Howie. I can't imagine living in the house with him with the constant Jedi, "boobies" and baby talk. *blech*

And if that man is still in his 30's ... he's at 39-3/4.

Really? I never thought about that. Wouldn't they just want the most popular guests back in? Who cares what season they're from.

I don't know. Anyone? Thoughts?
Mekias
I agree with what Aplomb said. I think most of the women got used to him and actually grew to like his graphic "compliments". Even if they know it's from an idiot like Howie, the majority of women enjoy being complimented. He was always going around telling them they had nice boobies and butts. It wouldn't work for 99% of the guys out there it works for Howie.

Bringing too many people from any season will bring about premeditated alliances. You get a fairly even mix, there's only two or three people who really know each other in the house, and we actually get to see something new and interesting happen.
uaintjak
I think probably everyone pretty much knows everyone else, to one degree or another. You figure they're all famewhores at heart, so they've probably attended cast parties from other seasons, or reality show get-togethers for whatever reason, etc.

They might not know each other like BFFs, but I'm sure they're all at least familiar with one another.

Cappy said he is voting for me!

What the..? Cappy is supporting Howie? What? When did the Crapster find redemption? Why do I feel like I've woken up in an alternate universe?

Somebody hold me.
MrsGryn
My guess is that because it was Howie's monumentally moronic move of nominating Sarah and James that assured Maggot of her win, of course Crappy likes Howie.
merlynn
I actually hope Howie doesn't make it in the house. It's not just because he's stupid and he bugs me a little. But mainly because I don't want Kaysar and Janielle to get instantly taken out because they are part of a three person (maybe 4 with James) alliance from season six. Kaysar and Janielle would probably still work together, but somehow I think they'll be less of a target without Howie around.
shann
Yeah, I actually like Howie, but I hope we don't get a BB6 herd. I want a good mix of all of them so that there aren't instant alliances.

I thought about this tonight while watching an encore presentation of the intro show...
It certainly seems Producers either feel a) Season 6 was the strongest personality wise; or b) the latest seasons are the easiest to get cast members to return.

Anyway, Kaysar-Janelle-Howie would be a huge target right off the bat. So if I'm a fellow player I'd WANT the three of them in the game and let other people go after them initially.
