I just watched (online, with half an eye). Did Grodner HAVE to have a "broken-up couple"? Did we really have to go there? And yet another "secret couple"? Didn't we already do that? *sigh*
That older chick who kept whining about her non-soulmate soulmate is such a shallow bitch. He HAS to be "tall, dark, and handsome," huh? How about, you know, some traits that like, you know, matter.
Probably first one out.
I'm thinking they went into this with the option for a shortened season, depending on the writers' strike. Looks like after the good news last week that it may soon be over, they opted to start with couples. They can always change later, like Biggest Loser did. That "expect the unexpected" line gives them leeway to do whatever they want, short of actually killing the hamsters off, despite that alluring sounding tagline about death!
Why the log cabin theme? Is that supposed to be "romantic"? Maybe there really are axes and chainsaws hidden in the house!

In
Survivor Palau, the game started wirh all 20 players on the same beach. After two days, tribes were picked, school-yard style. The last two players remaining were eliminated immediately with no vote taken. A third person was voted out at Tribal Council on day three.
Back on topic. I wonder if the feeds will not be up until after tomorrow's broadcast since the couple has already been eliminated (probably about five days ago). I know how Grodner likes to keep the evictions secret. Remember the 36-hour feed blackouts during double-eviction weeks?

This is my fear about this season. If it's an abbreviated six week season, I just really will. not. care. It's about the 3rd week I start to work out my favorites (read: least objectionable) and the people I really hate (read: just slightly below Iran on the axis of evil list) and by the 10th week I'm sick of 'em all. That makes week six like my sweet spot. And if that is when this ends, well... as I said, I just don't see myself caring that much.
All that said, this house is a disaster already. So maybe it is better it ends in March before someone sets the whole CBS lot on fire... unless... do they film in the same place as CSI Miami? If so, fire is good. Fire is very good.

The secrets never mean anything important to the game, the twists are so over-hyped they are always a sad disapointment and poor Julie acts like the stupid soap-opera inter-personal crap keeps us hanging on her every - but, wait, - word. Why not just play the game? Throw a bunch of mixed fruits & nuts in the house and let the game run. Let the twists & turns be surprises that fly or fall flat based on how they effect the game, not whether for the first time in BB history a meaningless x, y or z happens. Julie can't be stupid enough to think anyone tunes in for the constant empty blather she has to read. The game gives us enough mindless stupidity to keep us occupied without having amatuer scriptwriters adding more for no purpose.

My thoughts on the 6 week game. On the early show Tuesday during the tour of the house Allison and Julie were both saying 3 months now unless Im mistaken 6 weeks does not make 3 months. So I figure BB will make one of their "Expect the unexpected" and after a couple of week only make one person go home instead of a couple.
I don't know either way I am happy that I am getting my BB fix. I even started tanning so I feel more Summery!

Okay. I thought that I'd write a little summary about the whole Parker/Jen drama last night. I'd like to see if everyone agrees with me on particulars of what went on, so that I can be all square in my head. If anyone disagrees with the facts, or has something to add, please feel free to do so.
There is an alliance of 6: Natalie/Matt, Parker/Jen and Alex/Amanda. Alex and Amanda are HOH and plan to nominate Ryan and Allison as one of the pairs of nominees. I think that the pairs have to vote as one. If they can't agree, then that pair ends up going on the block (I am a little confused as to whether or not they replace a current nominee pair, get added to the two current pairs of nominees, or replace both pairs of nominees allowing the house to choose either of the disagreeing pair (Jen or Parker, in this case.))
Last night, the alliance was trying to get Jen to go with the alliance and vote off the Ryan/Allison pair. Jen said that she would never vote off Ryan which means that she and Parker could end up on the mac. This set Parker off on a 3 hour poutfest.
Does this sound right? If anyone has something to help clear all this up, that would be helpful.
ZGeist
Feb 13 2008, 04:40 PM
ff,
I think that's basically right. I think the only point of difference is that Jen was saying that she wouldn't EVER nominate Ryan but she would vote him out. They were all semi-drunk, particularly Parker, who took Jen's answer to mean that she didn't have his (Parker's) back. It was mostly a silly disagreement fueled by alcohol and Parker feeling left out and Jen wanting it both ways.
Anyway, I don't think even the people in the house know what's going to happen yet. They aren't sure if there is going to be a veto. They don't really know how nominations will go either. So paranoia is also having an effect.

Anyone else thing that this "Til Death do You Part" bit has a second meaning?
Perhaps they only play as pairs as far as their first eviction (death). Once they part ways in that regard, one or the other (or both) has an opportunity to get back in the game and play it solo. It would help get us to a 3 month run.

Feb 13 2008, 07:42 PM
pvrunner you have a good point there. If they don't then this is going to be a VERY short season. Lets see, start with 8 teams, one already gone in the first day or so, now we have 7??? A 7 week BB??? Ya, right.

We're an entire nom/eviction/HoH behind CBS, if you're a feed watcher. It's a big downer, frankly. There's little or no immediacy to the show, and we missed too much of the feeds to give a shit about these hammies. So if the show is dated, and the feeds aren't catchy...now what? We need a good breakdown on ShoToo or something to get people interested!

I'm almost positive that by me saying this, things are going to spiral out of control and into bizarro world but:
Is it possible that there are actually semi-intelligent hamsters in the house this year? I mean, granted, Jacob was obviously a moron and what we saw on the show tonight is possibly even dumber than Marcellas not using the veto. Jen revealed her and Ryan's secret way too soon, and Parker was a bit of a nutjob in his expectations of trying to get Jen to vote for Ryan. But, some of them are actually making logical choices.
First eviction...getting rid of the people (the person-Jacob) causing problems and dissension. First group of nominations...actually putting up the two couples who have people who will "no way in hell ever vote each other out." Oh, if only the BB8 hamsters had been this smart. I mean, the average IQ in this group is obviously a solid 5 to 10 points over the 60 or 70 we had averaging this past summer. It's somewhat shocking to me that they are actually putting Jen's pair and Ryan's pair up against each other right off the bat. How sad is it that this obvious move is shocking to me?
Ronnieroller
Feb 13 2008, 11:38 PM
See I myself, Keith, was thinking how stupid Amanda and Alex were to be putting up Jen and Parker. I mean yes, it is smart to break up the real life couple, but Amanda and Alex are in an alliance with them for chrissakes. These hamsters have not learned the valuable lesson that you never, ever put up members of your own alliance, especially as a pawn. They're always the one to go home.
Keith
Feb 13 2008, 11:40 PM
You could be right about that, Ronnie. Well, you definitely are right about not putting up members of your own alliance. But, I think my judgment was clouded due to them actually putting up people that wouldn't vote each other out. I mean, when you get to end game, you are still going to need those people out, otherwise you will always get another Dick and Danielle situation. Plus, I am still confused with all the newness of it and can't always tell everyone apart or what alliances they're in just yet.

Interesting.. A few minutes ago, Sharon was looking at the memory wall. There were only 14 pictures on the wall. I guess the first couple evicted does not even merit a place on the wall!
I suspect that the real reason is that there were 14 pictures last season and the producers did not want the expense of changing/remodeling the wall.

I just don't get the director of the Sho2 feed.
They had a great chance so some some too hot for CBS video with Natalie changing and then getting a rub down int he spa by James.
Instead of that we get 10min of Joshuah sulking over Neil's exit from the game by him self.
I mean it's not like I'm only watching the Sho2 feed wating for one of the women to show some skin but when they do it would be nice of Sho2 actually showed it.

Amen brother - I'm not a perv but I have more interest in looking at one of the girls naked for a few seconds, either in admiration or looking for funny looking body flaws than watching Joshua cry his eyes out because the guy he was forced to hook up with a week ago left the game for some indeterminate reason. ShoSkippy has a weird sense of what is or isn't interesting. I watch Sho2 because frankly it's nice to be able to watch the show on a large screen television and not squint at blurry pictures on Real. Also, Sho2 doesn't break into fire or hamsters unless some serious shit goes down. On the other hand, there are commercials like every 20 minutes now and I can't get the name "Kimbo Slice" out of my head and I feel like I must be missing something that is more interesting than Sharon and Parker's re-enacting Parker and Allison commiserating over being mutually fucked. I mean once is ok or twice even but eventually I'd rather watch CrazyEyesAdam and Alex play pool than listen to how bad famewhores think they've got it inside the house.

Mods, I'm not sure where to post this, but Kail held her big premiere bash up the road from me, and our local paper covered it. Daniel was there, but Dickwad wasn't invited. That's the jump headline! "Evil Dick" not invited to premiere event. Hee! Mike and Zach were also there from season 8. From earlier seasons were Howie, James, and Jennifer (ugh). No Kaysar or Janelle. Guess how many fans came? 50. Ouch!
As for last night's episode... Well, I was (re) watching Lost Season 2's finale, and didn't get around to tuning in until 8:40, just in time for the most insipid contest I've ever seen on this show. This couples theme is really stupid when they're not really couples. Did they have to make them come out in silly costumes? I mean, really. I know they'd worn costumes before, but this was just dorky.
I didn't intend to miss the first half. I just forgot, even though I'd been watching the feeds before watching Lost. I'm just not that into these people yet. I think the couples thing hampers things too much, because people can't scheme and form super secret alliances when they're towing around a human anchor in the form of a fellow contestant. And the stupid exes couple twist sure didn't last, nor did the secret boyfriend/girlfriend. So lame. I bet it pissed off Grodner to have both her twists bomb so fast.

Frankly, it bugs me to have some people in the house that have a prior relationship. If those people had a couple brain cells to rub together, they should clean up. Luckily (for everyone else), they didn't have the required grey goo.

Anyhoo, I missed Tuesday night, so last night was my first exposure to the new hammies. So far, no one inspired hatred in me, but the girl who thrusts all her stuff at the camera every time she gets the chance is close - those hugs after every question came ridiculously close to peep show status.
