That's right. It's time to show off your babies. You've got 'em, now flaunt 'em. Pictures and links to pics or videos of your pets plus comments are all welcome here. Just please follow the rule of keeping pictures under 450 pixels wide. You can only post five pics maximum per post, so double-posting is okay if need be.

The cuter, the better!

This is my cat Daisy who unfortunately was....dinner for a fisher cat or coyote last year.

This is my new kitten Millie who we adopted about a month ago. She's a sweetie!

Sophy
Over there, to the left, right under my name? That's Kayla, my 8 year old Yellow Lab, on the beach, camping with us at Hunting Island, SC.

My computer hard drive died/crashed a week ago, and I lost all my photos. But of course I had them all backed up on disks or a spare hard drive, yes? NO!!! Of course not!! Thank goodness my husband has all of the good pix on his, and they are backed up.

A cautionary tale ...

This is Bart. And yes, she is female. She has been with me for about 6 years, (I have allergies, so most furry pets are out.) She's very cute and cuddly, but don't piss her off. Yeah, definitely female.

Now I can show off my babies, thanks to Sophy!

ETA: OK, that took forever to figure out but so worth it.

Yay! Here is my kitty Milla Maru. She adopted me when my friend was moving to a smaller apartment. She is very sweet, and even clingy sometimes (following me from room to room) but I luv her.

Doggies and kitties and birdies!!! Squeeeeee!!!

We just got our little pupper Zeus 3 weeks ago, he's just 3 months old. I've only got sleeping puppy pics of him so far because when he's awake he's biting and I'm still honing my photographing while prying puppy fangs out of my hands skills.

Love his little underbite, he looks like he's pouting

Chubby sleeping puppy

I was going on the excuse that I won't have a decent amount of time at my home computer until Sunday to post, but tooletta has shamed me into action.

I give you-Sherman. Like Bart, she is a lady.

Sherman is 15 years old, 90% deaf, and has a thyroid problem that means she weighs less than 6 pounds.
Despite this, she hates all other kitties with an abiding passion and will drive off even the beefiest males powered only by her excessive bitchiness. I love her.

Oneflmgo
This is Atticus Vex and his big dog Madison. We were once afraid that the Big Dog might accidentally harm the wee kitten, but now we fear for Madison's life instead. Heeee. What fun these two are. I don't know why we waited so long to get a kitten for Madison. They are inseparable.

eta thank you Tooletta, I did it, I did it! Okay my life sucks. But I'm so excited about this..
GenieinTx
That dog has a look on it's face that says, "What is this thing attached to me?" Very cute little fuzzball.

She's georgeous, gforce. Meet Hidta, my 4 year old Lutino, also very, very much a female.

Elli, I love that picture of Hidta in the tulips. Awesome!

Just a reminder~ pictures should not exceed 450 pixels in WIDTH. Please resize them BEFORE posting. Those of you who have exceeded requirement have received a PM from me. The rest are fine. Thanks!

edited to add " in WIDTH".

Holy crap, I didn't even see the birdie in there, and thought Elli was yanking our chains with the flower photo. Cool photo!

Oh, man. There goes yet another self-perceived notion... You people have the cutest/craziest-looking pets. Seriously. I'm not a horribly sentimental kind of person, or so I thought, but man .... my tail is definitely wagging over these pics.

I have a little female Tonkinese kitten on reserve right now in TN. (I had to put my former Tonk down last Friday, sadly, but ... it was a very good, very secure, very chill life she had overall, so no lingering sadness beyond the missing of her; what more can you really ask for?)

I pick up the new kid in October, and the super-nice guy who's selling her to me is kind enough to send photos (so far on a daily basis!), since I'm missing the "tiny stage," and he gets that. How melty-cute is this little girl?

ETA: She's going to tear my apartment to bits, isn't she? Oy!
simone
What adorable pics--all of you! Iron Fortified Elli, that is the cutest picture ever. I'm dying over the pic of the baby Tonk, phenolbarbiedol. Never easy to say goodbye, hope this one brings much happiness, and spares your carpets, couch, drapes.

Cute!
How do I post a pic?
Thanks.
tooletta
Hi, HR!
Since I've been asked this a couple of times now, I'll go ahead and post a tutorial.

First~ you need to host your picture someplace like Photobucket.com or Imageshack. Once you've successfully uploaded your pic to their site, you'll need to make sure it's sized appropriately. At Photobucket, one of their options is for "messageboard/email 320X240" which is the one you want.

If you're using another hosting service, any size is fine, as long as the picture is no WIDER than 450 pixels. Once that's done, they will provide you with some codes. The code you want is basically the photo's hosted web address, for example: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k285/too...a/june07007.jpg, (it's called "direct link" at Photobucket.)

So, copy the code, then come here to HT. Open up a reply post, and find the square button with the sunset. BE SURE to erase the "http://" that you'll see in the prompt box, since your code will already have that. Paste in your code, post and check your results. It sounds challenging, but it's really not.

For those of you who have hosting issues, PM me, and I'll try to help. Good luck!
Haunted Rain
Thanks, tooletta. You rock!

Here is my Auggie Doggie when I first brought him home from the shelter. He was 8 weeks. Now he is 1.5 years old. He is mostly black lab.

It worked! I am adding two more. One of Auggie in action and one of him and my Ghillie Dhu. She is an 11 year old shepherd mix. These are at our old house.

lifeonhold
I am loving everyone's photos! This is such a great playhouse thread.

Here is a photo of my little dumpling, Honey. I got her from a no-kill shelter nearly 4 years ago. She is now about 9 or 10. She had a hard life of abandonment and had a few litters of kittens on the streets before being rescued. She then spent 10 months in a shelter cage before we chose each other. Now she NEVER tries to get out.

She is a very loving and appreciative cat but it tooks a great deal of time, all in very small steps to develop trust and to divest of her phobias and fears. She spent months under my bed when I first got her. I'm only now able to pick her up for short times. As of yet she is not a lap cat.

She does cuddle on my bed with me and loves both petting and brushing. When she gets frisky she gives me little love bites, and we play the game of "gitu" that Overg used to describe playing with Beaker and Thumper.

I love this photo. She is actually taking a little nap in this position. I am in a recliner right next to her taking this shot from over my right shoulder. She watches me quietly and contentedly from this pose as I web surf HT and chat and watch TV; after a time she'll just drift asleep as you see her here. It is so cute!
tooletta
Aww, Lifey. I remember those first months when Honey lived under your bed, occasionally terrorized by the Swiffer.

She looks so sweet and happy now.

You know, my shelter baby Jackson isn't a lap cat either. He was about a year old when I got him, they had found him in a field, but I'm not sure how long he was in the shelter. He loves his mama and wants to be near me all the time, but doesn't like me to pick him up and hold him. If I scratch him wherever he is, he's happy and purrs, but I can't pick him up and do it. Sabrina, the other one, was only in the shelter a couple of days. I knew someone who knew someone had taken kittens to the shelter and so I went and got one. She is not only a lap cat, but has to be held like a baby. It was a teenage girl who had pretty much bottle fed them until she had to get rid of them, so there you go. She was already spoiled by the time I got her.
Towanda
This is the cutest thread ever! And not cute in that blinkie cartoony cute way either. Legitimate cuteness here.

Here's my bitchy Avatar cat Shadow (she looks like she'd be a cousin to yours Anders).
I like dressing her up digitally just cause I know it'd piss her off in real life. Oh the humiliation. She is also NOT a lap cat. She's a lie next to you cat and she LOVES my son bestest of all. She constantly picks fights with the other 2 and really wants to be the alpha cat, but my fat tortie does whatever the hell she wants and blows off Shadow's attempts to fight with her - which pisses Shadow off even more. heh.

and here Shadow is in the chair they fight over daily. I love this one.

Here's my scaredy cat Muncie (we found her while we were living in (duh) Muncie). We lost her all orange brother a few years ago. He was the loving lap cat. She is scared of everything although she's never been through any trauma that we know about. She's just terribly shy, and squirmy.

And here is the ugliest sweetest cat I've ever owned. Her full name is Polka-dot Poppins because the kids thought she looked Polka-dotted and because she's "practically perfect in every way" but we mostly call her Pokey (or Porky when she's eating, which is a lot). She's quite a character. She loves my daughter and was one of "those cats" that enjoyed being carried upside down and dressed up in dolly clothes. She just came back for more & more. She's a fatty but very active so we don't worry much. And her fur is the softest fur I've ever felt on a cat.
elizabethann
This is my boy Desmond. He came into my life a few weeks after Clementine (also a Basset Hound) passed away. He was adopted from a shelter. Who am I kidding? I worked for the State Veterinarian and every shelter in the state knew I'd lost two Bassets in less than 4 months. As soon as this guy walked into the shelter he had my name all over him. He doesn't look too upset about it does he?

Lucy is another story. She was a stray who was given to a vet practice nearby. I met her at a local Petco and I just wanted to pet her. When I found out she was up for adoption I told my husband she'd followed me to the car. Could I keep her? They were calling her Stella at the time but I knew that wasn't her name and I told them so. I called across the room.. "Oh Luuuucy" and she came running and gave me a big old snooter kiss. In this pic she looks soooo sweet but she's a wild girl. Kinda like mom in the old days.

gforce
Great pics, everyone. And that Iron, that picture of Hidta is excellent. How is her personality? During her more "hormonal" times, Bart can be a bit of a handful - cuddly one minute, and cranky the next. She virtually never nips me, but strangers better watch out! She's quite territorial. Or should I say "terrortorial".
tooletta
Inky~ I think I'm in love with Polka-dot Poppins! Is that a Flat Stanley on her? I have pics of each of my cats with one!

Inky, is that Flat Stanley that Pokey is posing with?

ETA - I didn't see Tooleta's question about Stanley. I took my nephew's Stanley on a trip on Route 66. I had more fun with that then just about anything.

Basset Hounds!!!!! If I had dogs, they'd be bassets, I love them so much. We had a basset when I was growing up, his name was Hot Rod (hee).

I love this thread. Kitties and Doggies and Birdies.

I've been so wanting a puppy again, thanks to this thread. Alas, I'll be traveling much of the next year or so. I love seeing everyone's wonderful friends.

gforce, Hidta is generally very affectionate and funny. We had our problems in the past, but we've long since come to an understanding. Even on the rare occasions when something I do makes her lunge at me, she immediately starts her perfect imitation of a kissing noise to tell me she doesn't really want to hurt me. I do know when she wakes up on the wrong side of the cage, because almost every day, as soon as she hears one of us come down the stairs, she lets out one loud 'good morning.' Same when she hears someone come in from the garage. If we don't get those greetings, we know she's in a mood.

And she's also very territorial - I'm only now getting her to understand that the laptop keyboard is not hers and I am indeed allowed to touch it. And sneaky!!! She waits for me to leave the room to get into things she knows she shouldn't - or steal money from my purse if I forget and leave it open. *sigh* She tears it up for nesting. I do love having such an intelligent little thing around.

Inky, I always wondered if that was a Korat in your avatar. My friend thinks Milla is, but has no papers or proof or anything. Is she a Korat?

Nothing is more fun that pissing off Korats. I've never tried to dress Milla up, but I'm sure she'd cuss me out. She has quite a foul mouth. I believe what she is actually saying in my pics of her is "What!?" and "GodDAMMIT, lady, I am just trying to reLAX!"

The picture of Desmond is so cute, it causes me pain. I want a Basset now, elizabethann

Haunted, Little Augie with his head through the fence? *collapses into puddle of goo*
Towanda
Yep - that's Flat Stanley with Pokey. She left him there for a while then reached down and bit a hole in his head (oops). Love away Tooletta! There's plenty of her to love that's for sure.

Anders, DH found Shadow on the side of the road in Natchitoches Louisiana coming home from a business trip next to her dead mama who was a calico. So, she's some sort of mutt cat. She does look an awful lot like the Korats I googled, except for the amber eyes instead of green. She's a talker though. Almost like a siamese.

Genie, I just love that picture of Jackson sleeping on his back. That is PolkaDot's preferred sleep position too. And that website was hilarious!

Roxy I know it's trite (and probably even the wrong breed) but everytime I look through this thread I can only think "yo quiero Taco Bell" mmmm Taco Bell.

Minxy, Zeus puppy is a doll! That sweet belly!

We had a great big yellow lab named SamIAm. He was awesome with the kitties. They used to crawl all over him often slept draped right across his face. Your pair really reminded me of that Oneflmgo. And has Auggie Doggie chewed anything lately HR? SamIAm ate all the linoleum out of my college apartment kitchen one day - starting from the middle and going out. He was a chewing machine, but weirdly never messed with my shoes.

Jasi I can't believe your cats look so calm in the big scary thing that makes noise and takes us to the place with the man who pokes us with needles. Mine all holler up a storm! When we had to evacuate for Hurricane Rita, they all yowled for the entire. 3. hour. drive. Yeah, that was fun.

I found a few more shots to share. Christmas is Shadow's favorite time of year cause she can play Cat-zilla. We just leave an empty spot in the village for her now.

And Polka-Dot loves this doll tent. I think she thought we bought it just for her.
Haunted Rain
Thanks for looking at my pics, you guys. I love talking about my babies. Anders, Auggie is the cutest puppy ever! And I know a lot of people probably say this about their dogs, but he is a genius.
How did you know, inky? Yep, Auggie Doggie is a chewer. He ate so much stuff when he was a baby that I thought he was going to have to get an operation. Who knows what all is still in there? The other day he started eating some money out of my Mom's purse.

Here is a better pic of Ghillie. Don't get me wrong, I love her, too, but she's always been sort of quiet, retiring, and neurotic. She's very low key and timid. She doesn't play or anything.

The second pic is of Auggie sliding down the ramp I had for my Fletcher, who I had to put down last year. He was a three-legged chocolate lab and he was 15. You can't tell, but Auggie is moving and slid all the way down the ramp. Ghillie is concerned and running down to keep an eye on him. She doesn't like Auggie but feels responsible for him.

I hope it's okay to post more pics. I can remove some, mods, if it is too much. Thanks!

How did Bart get her name?

Yeah, Bart is all about the paper, too. Very efficient paper shredder. They are very intelligent and it's amazing how much and quickly they learn. I'm always a bit bewildered when I read that lovebirds can't talk, because Bart says several phrases, and while they're not all necessarily clear, some are easy to understand. "STOP IT!" is one she says very clearly and the funny thing is she uses it in context, when she's annoyed about something. So, when she says Stop it, I know that I, well, need to stop it.

She got her name because when I first got her I thought she was male. You really can't the difference very well by inspection but some web sites said that the shape of the tail can sometimes be a sign (fanned vs. pointed). Anyway, my sister named her because I'm a Simpsons fan. Well, the Summer when she was about three years old she was particularly cranky and I wondered what was going on. Until I came home to find an egg on the bottom of the cage, however. She had one more right after that and then suddenly was back to normal and cuddly. Since then I've known to handle her environment in ways that doesn't make her quite so hormonal.

I didn't have the heart to change her name by that point, though - she's knows herself by "Bart" and that's how it will stay.
Haunted Rain
You guys, I just love all your pictures! I keep looking at them all the time. I was gonna write all the ones I like best, but it's basically all of them.

Inky, you aren't the first to say that. Spike is actually a miniature pinscher/chihuhua mix. Seven pounds of fury, so watch out! He's like a ninja. They are both rescues and I adore them beyond all measure. The pics I posted were secretly taken by my sister to have a canvas print made for me ala Warhol. I'm including the proof below. The colors are a little off from the real thing, but the finished product is museum quality and I'm not ashamed to say I cried when I received it.

ETA: I just called her to ask who did the print. Gotta give credit where credit is due. It is www.allpopart.com She said they were absolutely wonderful to deal with.

Yes, multiple posts with more pics are always welcome. In fact, I'm going to do that now. Overg wasn't thrilled with the snap I posted of Thumper in the first post, because he doesn't think it really looks much like her, so here's another:
