Just a reminder:

Dick causes some major feelings (both ways) from people. We aren't asking anyone to leave their opinions out of their posts, but please tread lightly in this thread. We don't want to have to shut it down. Again.

Aww, okay. *spit shines m'halo*

Dick's not a bad guy. He's simply misguided. Let us pray CBS sees the guiding light and shows him the errors of his ways. THRU a banner.

ETA: Ok, Okay, mmmmkay. Gotcha tooletta. I've seen the err of m'wayz. 4give me?

QUOTE(Ronnieroller @ Aug 24 2007, 11:53 PM)

Dick and Jess are conversing on old stripy. Dick's going to tell Zack that he promised Jessica that he would vote how ever she wanted him to. Plenty of Zach bashing. Now Dick talking about his heroes Will and the other guy who's name I shall not mention.

Haha Ronnieroller I'll mention he who shall not be named, it's Boogie! Dick you are so nothing like Will, he had a personality and the ability to string full insults together without the use of swears and crude insults. As for Boogie, I hate to admit it but he has a way with the ladies, ick. How many showmances have you had Dick? Zero. How many did Boogie have, oh yes two - granted I'm still haunted by these visions. We all know if Boogie was in the house today he'd be doing the wild thing with Amber.
Boogie - Amber I had a vision that OGG wants us to be together tonight.
Amber - OK, what position does OGG want us to use?

I'm now going to take a scalding hot shower to punish myself for this disgusting post.

I think Fisty is going to have to powerwash all of HT after that one.

I'm going to give some credit to DICK! here, because I've just spent the past hour or so watching him cook dinner (again) for everyone else, while the other hammies lounge around elsewhere (again). These morons would starve if it wasn't for him.

To be fair, half the house has offered to help him out or asked that he call them if he needed help and he rejected every single offer (except Daniele's offer to watch him cook). Also, Jessica and Jameka are cooking dinner for the rest of the house tomorrow. That should be interesting.
Magpie
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I wondered in one of my recap posts if he ran them off or something like that. I fired up the feeds mid-cooking session and apparently missed the part where they offered to help.

Jess and Jam? Oh, yeah, that should be great. Heh. (I don't want to wander off-topic here, but the last time Jam cooked, I think they all got gas.)
Ronnieroller
Maybe Jam will make some of her famous "fried in water" potatoes.

And to keep it on topic for this thread - Dick

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

You kill me.

And so I don't get banned ... I was thinking this morning that if Dick is doing all the cooking or even most of the cooking then it could be a "Like Water for Chocolate" effect on the food causing them all to be asshats. And then I made breakfast with the feeds on and Dick noise in the background ... just as an experiment. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've been a vague fan of Dick for a while, mainly because I have to admire people who actually say what they think (since I tend to not)...

but either way, I feel really bad for him sometimes with the way Daniele treats him. He at least tries to have a connection with her, and she just whines and bitches and yells. I've seen a lot of people go on about how sorry they feel for her having him as a father -- I'm kind of feeling bad for him to have her as a daughter.

Wow, another Dick fan. Welcome! I have to agree with you. I want to like Danielle because I like how she is with Zach, like her with Jess, like her even with Amber. But, I can't stand how she treats Dick. He seems to be trying so hard. This isn't just a game for him, and I think she hurts his game and his heart. We also have to admit that he is the hardest working hammie this season.

I agree with you both and might I add the hardest working and the one who looks like he has aged the most in such a short time. I think this experience is very stressful on him.

I agree it's unfortunate Dani has Dick for a father and agree with you Clarissa that it would be nasty to have Dani as a daughter. But I really have to wonder where Dani's attitude comes from? Maybe there's a reason she treats him as she does. Maybe this is a cycle for the two of them and Dani's not falling for it this time. Or maybe Dani is just a bitch who doesn't know how to do much but whine? I don't think we'll ever really know the true history of their relationship and because of that it is very difficult to know who has got the short end of the relationship stick.

Regardless of their situation before they came into the house, Dick is making the best of the situation and Dani is using it for sympathy. I am not a Dick fan but I will say that from what I've seen in the house he has made the attempt to be there as a support for his daughter.

Regarding Dick's "aging." I think it actually has to do what his activities are the night before...and also if he shaves. Sometimes he looks 64 years old, rode hard and put away wet...and other times he looks only 52-54. I wish I could understand how the deep lines in his face seem to deepen-plump-deepen-plump. Some fabulous anti-aging cream? Fill us in on the brand name! He often looks like he's been on a two-week bender. What kinds of meds are there in the house? What kinds has he stolen from other houseguests?

It's absolutely the SMOKING that has aged him beyond his years. Smoking dehydrates the skin (and, now they know...increases gray hair sproutage) and makes the face looks like, in the words of Jerry Seinfeld, 'an old catcher's mitt'.
CripesAlmighty
A couple of days ago, Dick mentioned that a doctor was going to come in to see him about his chest pain. Did he ever meet with the doctor? If so, did he ever tell what the doctor found?

So much for Jam and Jess cooking dinner and giving Dick a night off. Rather than letting Jameka cook, Dick all but shooed her out of the way so he could cook the hamburger for their tacos because he didn't want to be useless. If he keeps this up, I might start liking him again.

CBS updated the polls ... DICK! is still most popular YAY!
Minxy
For all Dick's bashing of Jun being fat and ugly, he's certainly giving her game a try with all his Mr. Mom schtick.

All I know is I watched him wipe his nose with his hand and then jam said hand into the bag o' mozzarella the other night when he was making chicken parm. Nasty ass.

I have to say that I detested the way DICK! treated Jen. Forget how anyone feels about the girl, the whole damned thing was just rotten to the core. If any grown man ever treated my daughter that way, I would have a Valuev-type tune him up for it. We've all got to learn manners sometime.

Aside from the raging misogyny, the chronic gas and his continuous spitting, I guess he's not such a bad dude. Although, I gotta say his Tommy Tough Guy routine took a comical turn when he got beat up by bubble bath.

Looking at the state of the house now, though, I see he's trying to keep his word within his alliance (in spite of what his dour progeny wants). I see him working to give life in that house some semblance of normalcy (cleanliness, cooking meals, being conversational). He's basically holding the house together. And, his personality is Daniele's social game.

Although I've virtually written the "winner" of this game off as a loser (mostly because the game itself leeches that kind of poison out of people) I do think that the Donatos will end up sitting next to each other in F2. It wouldn't bother me to see him take the dough for working his game and Daniele's.

I would agree with you except I just can't get over how abusive he was to many of the houseguests this year. After reading the recaps from the last few days I will now say I'd rather him win than Danielle. But that's as high up on my win-wish as I can get him. Those days of ranting and raving making offensive comments still are in my memory. I appreciate what he's doing to keep the house together right now but he's not Mr. Cleaver. Danielle has sunk even lower in my books because of her whining and refusal to the simplest of tasks such as turn on the oven. Really Danielle GROW UP!

I would rather Dick won than Amber, but not over anyone else.

As much as I despice the dickster, he is what he is. The other hamsters could have and should have thrown him out of the house long ago.

I won't go so far as to hint that he 'deserves' to win, but the rest of them deserve what they get if they lose to him at the end.

I'm going to have to (reluctantly) give DICK! some props here as he just explained to Zach why the ocean waters off the coast of California are "fucking cold." In DICK! parlance, we* get "fucking iceberg water" while the east coast gets Caribbean water. DICK! also explained to Zach that September is the worst month in southern California. Zach could not believe that because, as he put it, September "is supposed to be cold."

This is what is so crazy-making about Dick. He is, without a doubt, the most heinous person I've ever seen on reality TV. On the flip side, when he is not being a jerk, he is very interesting to listen to and can speak intelligently about a wide variety of subjects. He can also be quite funny.

Actually, he reminds me of a lot of my ex-boyfriends. ::going for another glass of wine::
Shizzles
Lol Roxy, I see that angle on Dick, wonder why he doesn't act that well all the time. Also have to wonder if he will ease up on the spitting now that Julie and America have made it all to clear he has a loagie prob. For as quick witted as Dick can sometimes be, he seemed to be awfully embarrassed, even stumbling and fumbling for an answer when all he could mutter out was "it's like walking and talking Julie" and as he uttered those imbecile words, my mind drifted off, wondering when the props dude was going to enter the house to give Dick his helmet back. Not one of Dick's best moments and we all know it was a cake job for the editors to put that little loagie piece together.

This is what I call "RWJ Cognitive Dissonance". I suffered it for two seasons with RWJ, and I am now going through something similar with Dick, only worse, because he also shares my political views but is also 10 times more heinous than RWJ.

Funny you say that, because I feel very similarly. My politics are much more in line with Dick's than probably most people in that house, from what I've gathered when he is saying something intelligent rather than verbally abusing people. The shitty thing is, I could really like Dick a lot if he wasn't such an asshole.

On the other hand, there's someone like Kail and even Jen, who I feel my politics are not in line with at all. But, to be honest, I'd rather hang out with Kail. For all her "faulty" politics, she seems like a genuinely nice person, and I prefer to surround myself with nice people, despite their politics.

It reminds me of Bunky and Kent. Very different people who became friends because they were genuinely good people when it comes down to it.

I'll vote how Dick votes, but I will never like him as a person.

Probably about as close a comparison as you could make. Frankly, I think Dick has a much better sense of humor than RWJ, but there really hasn't been a hamster like Dick before. And I don't mean that in a good way.

There are many things I don't like about ED. I find him so totally repulsive to watch, that I have to DVR Showtime so I can totally skip him....which means I do miss hearing things about the game.

I think it's a fantastic idea, smart enough to know it's going to be a fleeting thing so make as much as you can as fast as you can while the market is hot. There's no way to guarantee a win but those shirts are selling at a premium price, no CBS or BB logos so no cut to any corporation, the design is pretty cool and virtually zero marketing costs and overhead. There's also no item limit like selling "collectibles"" on eBay they can print up as much as they sell 10 or 10,000. DICK! raised himself a clever boy for sure. Dunno what the heck happened with Dani?

I just cannot fathom who this woman could be-here her entire family( well both her kids and her ex) is tied up in this show, with one of them almost certain to win and we hear nothing from her? Nada? You KNOW CBS would have pulled out all the stops to involve her in this Freaky Family Reunion if it was at all possible. Has she not one droplet of famewhore in her entire being? What about Grandma from the other side? Anyone? Bueller?

I'm thinking that the embarrassment surrounding the fact that she had a 'romantic' relationship with Dick is enough to keep her underground for some time to come.

Earlier in the season, I heard Dick on the back porch talking to himself. He stated " Who needs a coup de gras any ways?" What exactly came of this and what was the deal with the hidden message on hookah lamp and chess board.??

She didn't sign a release either. I'm thinking she's embarrassed because she deserted her kids to be raised by their father and his parents. Keep in mind DICK! got custody for a REASON. I think having his parents help out was making the best of a lousy situation and making the best decisions that could be made at the time. It's easy to romanticize an absent parent and abuse the one who stuck around, kids to it ALL THE TIME. DICK! seems to have done a pretty good job with Vincent, Dani seems to have classic "mommy left me" issues. I think DICK!'s done admirably considering he wasn't much older than Dani when he became a single dad with 2 young kids. Nowadays most dad's take off, DICK! dug in and took the hard road, he's not perfect but he did put in every effort, can't fault him for not everything not turning out perfect.

You can't default to assuming that the remaining parent is the good one, either.

BTW, did Dick take the hard road? I was under the impression that his mother took the hard road, not Dick. (This is emphasized by Danielle's whining that he never tried to be her parent before coming to the BB house.) Also, clearly their mom wasn't completely out of their lives (as evidenced by the fact that she bought Danielle her current car).

Lot's of kids grow up in single parent households being raised by either their mom or dad. These kids, were raised by neither.

I was wondering the same thing about the coup de gras. What gives? It doesn't surprise me. BB's big on "twists" and by that I mean, "Oops we're changing the rules, plans, punishments, rewards and anything else we feel like right in the middle of the game because we did not plan very well and/or we want to improve ratings. Twist on that, houseguests."

All I can judge Dick by is his behavior in the house, and for me, it's been horrific. I would've liked for him to face consequences up to and including removal for some of the actions .... not only because of the incidents themselves (that, for me at least, crossed a line that should not have been crossed, and we've debated that and I respect others' viewpoints) ... but in the Big Brother realm, if he makes it to F2 and/or wins, then I can only imagine how many other houseguests might try to emulate his game play. And who knows where their "line" might be? Someone's going to be hurt, physically or emotionally long-term (Amber: I worry about you, truthfully) and I hate to see that happen just for entertainment purposes.

edited to fix typos. d'oh

Hmmmmm, I wonder what would have happened if ED had been AP. I would have liked to have seen that mixed into his "reunion" with daughter dearest. You thought America was mean to Eric, imagine ED having to nominate or vote to evict daughter dearest. That would have been...

sorry, got caught up in my fantasies. That would have been doog TV.
