Jameka is 28, from Waldorf, MD, is single and a school counselor.

This one claimed to be from Temple Hills, MD, not Waldorf. MrsGryn is going to be pissed awf if this chick is from Waldorf and turns out to be an embarrassment. Prepare for the Wrath of Gryn, because you know it's inevitable.
AnnieMoon
I am cautiously pre-not hating her for now. She seemed pretty normal and good-natured in her Early Show intro. I do feel bad for her that she's the only non-white in the house. No, Carol and Mike (hee), excessive use of spray-on tan does not count.
MrsGryn
*crosses fingers in the hopes that this one is semi-normal*
uaintjak
I'm hoping someone at central casting said "If we're going to have a minority, make sure they're bat-shit insane."

I mean...one poor woman in a house full of Whiteys? If she's not crazy now, she will be. Especially since her bio says she's mostly grown up around black people. Good luck with that this summer, sweetheart.
Beehoppy
She lives sorta near me, seems kinda normal, and almost meets my agre requirement.

She's my Number One right now.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Countdown to heartbreak.
Roo
It's interesting to have a black person who says they've only been around other black people. Usually you have these sheltered white people who've never seen a white person/gay person/etc. etc. etc.
Magpie
I love it that she is a school counselor, especially given the "bullies" theme. She's officially my favorite Hamster.
'Tis Me, KR
Nice smile. I hope she doesn't try to psycho-analyze everyone. I would find that very boring, which would cause me to be very mean.

On second thought..... :: grin ::

ooooh, i hadn't even thought of that! Most school counselors i've met are pretty cool.. anyone know if she's an elementary, middle, junior or high school counselor?

and, yo, white people be crazy, sistah.

stay strong!
PuffTrinket
Because some things are just TOO snarky
lifeonhold
She seems normal without being boring. So far I like her.

Hopefully she'll have some counselor tricks to play the others like violins.

Expect BB to mine her for all she's worth for provocative comments about cultural differences between blacks and whites.
FeedMeCoffee
Poor thing... she's gonna freak with all those white folk being all (famewhore) crazy all the time.
Seems cool on the videos.

Jameka says she has one bad habit.......
In the mornings....Jameka...(dun dun dun)..."hawks spit."
Thank god I'm a night time 'capper. Sorry a.m. crew.
wickedtong
She says she picks up on non-verbal clues. I am relieved someone in the house knows what those are. She is now my fave.
FeedMeCoffee
When asked what kind of people she hates, Jamy (Jameka) replied, " People who are a waste of oxygen."

Sister, get ready to HATE!! You're gonna be around a LOT of oxygen wasters.
oooooh! And Jamy says she gets "explosive" when she bottle up her anger! This is gonna be good!!!
Beehoppy
Jameka says she's a social chameleon.
A gregarious lizard?
Awesome-I love that little Geico dude!
Snooky
Wow, Jameka would have hated to be in a house with Boogtard, for never was there such a waste of space OR oxygen.

Every time I see my sheet with the cast photos, and look at Jameka, I sing to myself , "One of these things is not like the other..." I hope she kicks some houseguest ass.
gunshyne
I just hate her first experience with white folk will be on BB. Damn she will think all white girls are bubble heads like Jessica.

Jameka is also my pre-show favorite.
'Tis Me, KR
Jameka, when she sees the small beds, "Oh, what the HELL is that?"
Let the show begin.
Sardonic
I like her, and I suspect that she will be more than willing to go off on fools in the house and will provide lots of good DR entries.
insideout
she definitely seems like a competitor. wouldn't take no for an answer from joe, that's for sure. kick some ass, girl!
Ubershauna
I'm Black, White & Native American and I generally claim Native American in polls. So I have to feel for Jameka but I don't see how this would help her. She is automatically a target and she seems to have a attitude about it already, so I wonder how she will fare. To say that you are not used to 'White People' in 2007 makes you a target. I live in a Red state and black/white relations are generally decent but not fantastic. What the hell kind of place is she living in that is still segregated?!

Feeds are up! 11:00pm Central!

Temple Hills Maryland is in Prince George's county, one that buts up against Washington DC's North- and South-east sides. Because the internet has broken for me today, I can't show you what I think would be a revealing and reliable demographic study from yahoo real estate, but instead I will show you WikiPedia, with which ymmv.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Hills,_Maryland

Of note, the following quote:

QUOTE
The racial makeup of the CDP was 9.32% White, 85.01% African American, 0.21% Native American, 1.40% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 2.37% from other races, and 1.54% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.39% of the population.
MrsGryn
I live about 20 miles south of Temple Hills, in Waldorf where CBS claims Jameka is from, and this is my non-scientific observation: Temple Hills is pretty heavily African-American and Waldorf is a pretty good mix of white, African-American and Hispanic.

From about 40 miles north of Temple Hills, I'd have to concur. :P

/waves to her semi-neighbor MrsGryn!

Woo! Validation!

Gotta admit Jameka didn't impress me last night when she thought the following rule might be true: "There's no crying in baseball!"

Thank goodness Dick set her straight.
QUOTE

Jameka says she doesn't know as much as Dick does. She doesn't care about Dicks questions. Jameka stock holders? SELL SELL

Unfortunately, as Anders44leafsreports above, he couldn't open her mind enough for a genuine discussion of religion, and now I really don't care for her much.
AnnieMoon
I cracked up at Jameka's comment about how everyone looked covered in butter: "Nobody was looking at anyone else thinking, 'You. You're mine tonight.'" Hee. And her remarks about the slop were also funny.
blizzywo
Being a black guy I never understood why everyone expects us to be these vessels of pent-up aggression just waiting to lash out and cause drama. It doesn't suprise me she hasn't had a lot of exposure to whites, black people in MD, VA, and the rest of the south tend to isolate themselves...needlessly I think.

I think she's pretty even keeled. I honestly think CBS went out an got a lot of people who don't belong on a reality tv show. No question they used a psych panel this year. They probably even had the contestants do myers-briggs assessements too.
Anders44Leafs
Being a black woman with pent-up aggression just waiting to lash out...heh

I feel your pain, blizzywo. But just look at our recent representations. Omarosa. Jerry Springer guests. Flavor of Love Girls. It's not lookin good for black women on tv. (thank you for trying, Mo'Nique)

Jameka has to be even keeled to be a school counselor, and she has put up with the weirdness of the show pretty well. Eric tried to paint her as a psycho early on, but can't do it anymore. I am still a little heartbroken with her inabilty to discuss religion.
vee_loves_realty
She is my ABSOLUTE favorite. Hell! I will even go on to say she is MOST LIKELY the winner or runner up. Nobody seems threatened by her, nobody seems to notice her enough either to include her in an alliance or target her for eviction. So she will have quite some free-riding time. She just needs to read those non-verbal communications right and make an alliance at the right time.

My loves flows from Janey to Jamey!
Go Jamey!

tooletta
I am impressed with Jameka's ability to show an interest in others. She usually is asking the other HGs about themselves, and rarely talks about herself. She's feeding their self-absorbtion. I hope this is all part of her plan.
SBTZMom
Sorry....This may have been posted elsewhere, but I just could not find it...

What is that "pink stuff" in a bottle Jameka drinks all the time...looks like a giant bottle of Pepto...

actually kicks up my gag reflex when whe drinks it...

Thanks to anyone who answers.....

Jameka's pink stuff always makes me want some Strawberry Quik - mmmm..

It's probably a protein drink.
MrsGryn
I think you're right, inklyL. The ones on SLOP have to drink their protein. Yummy!

Thanks Tsy for moving my question to the correct place....

And thanks for the answers...

If that was the only way to get protein, I just don't think I could do it....UGH!!

Jam seemed to be the only person (not including Eric) that wondered aloud why they should vote out someone that will save Mrs. R alliance. She pointed it out to Jess and Jess shared with Eric. Jam is smart and I like her.

eta: this was supposed to be in the Jam thread. Sorry, I have since put on my glasses.

I am still angry with Jameka over the religion non-debate and the Zach/racist paranoia.
Before those two incidents she was my favorite. Now, I'm just waiting for her and Z to make out.

Here's to wishing Jameka a happy birthday!

She's definitely operating from a 'no lying' perspective, but not to the point where she's pissing others off about it (Hello? DICK!). So far, good strategy. Does she have any enemies at this point? Is she on the radar?? I say, no.
Lausana
Good lord I hope Jameka's getting paid by the hour on top of her stipend--she's earning her keep tonight.
HT Mike
Why is Jam on this show? All she does is listen to the other hammies ramble and reply with a never-ending series of hmm's in the same (irritating) tone of voice. I understand that she's playing under the radar. However, she's not playing the game at all! Who is in her alliance and what is her strategy? I have no idea. My fear is that, before anyone realizes that she's still in the house, she'll end up in the final two and win.
ihearthammies
It's that classic school counselor crap. Being a former educator myself, I always hated approaching any administrator with a gripe because that's exactly the response you'd get. I don't know, has she thrown in any, "I understand what you're saying"-s yet? This is why every time she starts mmmhmm-ing I literally want to punch her in the windpipe. And, no, I'm not bitter.
Shizzles
Meet Jameka, aka JammHMMMeka. Mmm hmmm, mmmm, mmm hmmm.......boring, *yawn*.
sebia
Ohmigod. Put a muzzle on this chick. I'm watching the group volleyball game and all I here is every 30 seconds, Jameka screeching someone's name/praise or mockery.

"Dusstiiiiinnnn, goooood job!!!"

Ugh. A little bit of dislike starting to creep up for her. I can't really put my finger on it, but something about her rubs me the wrong way. It's like she tries to hard to be cool/hip.
SBTZMom
OK...my grand parents lived in an assisted living place when they were in their 90's.

I thought the folks there were consumed with bowel movements/poop, but Jameka takes poop fixation to a whole new level!

In fact, in all the seasons of BB this is the only cast I can think of that is so caught up in poop-mania!
Sardonic
Yeah, so she doesn't actually appear to have a plan other than assuming that any HOH or POV wins are due to divine intervention.

Has Jameka even WATCHED any of the last four seasons? I hate to bring this up but I don't think God has ANYTHING to do with choosing the winners of this game.

So far, our winners have included:

Mike, a man who flirted with and even mock-proposed to a woman so that she'd follow him, all the while he was trashing her and calling her a ho, and spent the entire time complaining the cameras weren't spending enough time on him.

Will, a man who flirted with a married woman and induced a nervous breakdown in her, a few weeks AFTER he planned to fake leukemia to gain sympathy within the house.

Jun, woman who played both sides down the middle, and called one of her housemate's children a little bitch.

Drew, a man who flirted with a woman he wasn't interested in at all, only to nominate her repeatedly and then cruelly dump her at the final three even though he would have won either way, after turning on his own alliance on two different occasions. (This sets aside the speculation that he's gay and was playing her even more sadistically.)

And Maggie. Jesus, where do I even begin with that bitch? We have all the times she talked about her group's goodness, we have the plan her group devised to have Beau end up in bed with Howie to blackmail him, we have the crying session and accusations that America was evil every time Janelle won America's choice, we have her playing April and Ivette off of one another, and we have the fact that she couldn't even be bothered

I think that's evidence that BB is more in the hands of the folks DOWNSTAIRS rather than upstairs, but that's just me. To be fair, Lisa is an example of someone that seems like a normal, kind, non-sociopathic human being that won, but still, the exception proves the rule.
gunshyne
The hymn music playing when Jammmmhhmm was being shown was too much, especially when The Dick electric guitar music would blast when it cut too him.

I think its funny that alot of really spiritual people don't even stop to think that when something happens by random (like the pong balls) that it could be a gift from down under not above. But I guess its all good cause remember "God is gangsta"

Jameka, Eric, and Jessica in living room

Eric asks Jameka who is one celebrity that she just hates. Jameka thinks and says, "Rosie O'Donnell."

Now I don't like her, I like Rosie no matter what she did.
