nixiechick Posted April 23, 2017 I don't know, Vanck spends most of his time mansplaining how Ashton is wrong about her every thought, I'd say he's pretty lucky she hasn't kicked him in the balls yet. No matter what she says, he's got to argue she's wrong because blah blah, blah. When he commented the damn taxi didn't have a seat belt, even I rolled my eyes at him. Personally, I spent half the show wondering when this became Amazing Race, misogynist edition. Still hoping someone steals Redmond's leg.
Lorelai28 Posted April 23, 2017 I have never been so happy to see an individual racer eliminated. Goodbye, GlassTesticles (AKA Snowflakeballs). I kind of wish that after every pit stop, the teams would be allowed to change partners. Like the first team in could switch or stay, next could become free agents so that partners could be swapped out. Let chaos reign! What a great alternative to the U-turn! gforce Posted April 24, 2017 Is it just that TAR hasn't been on in a while and I'm not used to it, or are a lot of these people whinier than normal. Yeesh.
AVorlon Posted April 25, 2017 (edited) Yeah, they're definitely whinier than usual, probably because most of them don't get along with their partners, and there's no sex or romance, or even flirting, to calm people down. The producers could have made this more interesting, but they dropped the ball on that one. It's a sad state of affairs when the fans have better ideas than the people who actually make the show. ETA: I almost forgot the skyscraper made out of wooden pallets, just so they can burn it down. Happy Earth Day, everyone! Lorelai28 Posted April 30, 2017 Lather, rinse, Brooke.
MrsGryn Posted May 1, 2017 I was really really hoping she would fail...and flail...on that challenge so much that they lost. What was the deal with Vanck and Ashton being so hated by everyone? I get why Team Rude Boys didn't like them, well, her anyway, but why was everyone out to get them? Someone said something about how they don't socialize with the rest of the teams, but that is not a good reason. Also, the good move would be to use the U-turn to get out a good team like was done with the first go-round, not a team that consistently screwed up and were middle of the pack at best. nixiechick Posted May 1, 2017 I think one of the other guys said Vanck was really annoying. I can see that.
ShyLurkerGuy Posted May 2, 2017 It seemed like a very BB-esque U-turn to me: the conventionally popular strong personalities chose to sabotage the team who harshed their mellows the most (with a blind eye and deaf ear to Brooke who they seemed to consider one of them). And though there are other quirky teams, Vanck was probably the greatest distance to socially bridge for most of them and he surely didn’t help Ashton’s disposition with the cognitive load of adapting to him. I know and have known people like Vanck who are well-versed and quite effective in their area of expertise but remain, for the most part, socially awkwardly cluelessly naive even if you’ve known them for years. In other words, he’s one of many real-life variations on BBT’s Sheldon. They’re tough to endure beyond small doses of time.
Tsylyst Posted May 14, 2017 I'll admit to being shocked -- CBS is giving "Amazing Race" another season. No word on when it will air. I still haven't watched any of this season. I've recorded it all, so maybe I'll binge it at some point.
AVorlon Posted May 14, 2017 You haven't missed too much , Tsy. It's just a normal season, with perhaps more whining than usual. Maybe this will give James and Natalie their big chance for next season. Two hour episode this week, because they need to hurry it up while they still have some viewers left. tlh9 Posted May 14, 2017 I'm actually kinda liking this season, and more than I thought I might. But then I've always loved Amazing Race! And I'll admit to being somewhat easily amused.
MrsGryn Posted May 14, 2017 I've been enjoying the season, actually. The format had me very skeptical from the beginning, but it has worked in some interesting ways. Love the "old" team and I think they may be the only ones with a chance to beat the boys. Definitely time for Liz and Mike to go. They did argue like siblings, but I think there is a genuine affection there.
AVorlon Posted May 20, 2017 Goodbye to team Fun, as Floyd litters Vietnam with shrimp traps and doesn't bother to pick them up, and then decides it's a good time for a nap. Congrats to the old folks for overcoming their speed bump and passing the other teams. Pretty impressive. I see Brooke has busted out a new shirt that says Eat, Sleep, Race. It would be more accurate if it said Eat, Sleep, Bitch and Moan, and Pretend You're Going into Labor.
MrsGryn Posted May 21, 2017 Yeah Joey really rocked that shrimp basket bike challenge. And Tara made me laugh when she said something to him about walking up 500 steps without complaining. Every spare breath I had would be used for complaining when faced with 500 steps! I felt awful for Floyd when he had to do it yet again. It's sad when a team has to go for medical reasons. Also I hate Brooke so much. She's fine when everything is going well but she's so awful when something goes awry.
