The Amazing Race – Season 29

Considering CBS's luck last season with and of their Summer Series, it's not a bad idea to run an edition in the summer. It's a natural pair with Big Brother.

CBS has booted "Training Day" from its schedule and is moving "The Amazing Race" into the 10 p.m. Thursday slot starting March 30, about a month earlier than it was originally scheduled to premiere.

 

10 p.m. Thursday is a death slot for a lot of shows (especially on CBS), so don't get your hopes up for another season after this one.

Isn't it a little too soon since Paxton's demise to be joking about a 10pm death slot?

 

Shouldn't they introduce us to the cast if they're starting soon?

I'm sure we'll meet the cast pretty soon. I think they filmed this a long time ago, and I'm thinking that CBS doesn't care all that much about how well it does in the ratings. They seem to be using it for filler these days, until they can come up with yet another crime show, because 10 zillion of them is not enough.

I really hate the idea of pairing people up at the beginning of the race rather than casting pre-existing pairs. Now that I've said that, it will probably be a fantastic twist.

Aw, man... the episode recaps were the best! I always read them even when I watched the episode(s).

 

I'm not sure I like the idea of "blind date" version of Amazing Race, either. Didn't they actually do that, that one time, though? So this isn't the first time we've had never-seen-each-other-before teams?

This is the first time we've seen all the teams done this way.

Yeah, the other time they did this, it was only SOME of the teams who were strangers. I seem to recall that they did pretty well, though.

I could probably say the same thing about Vanck Zhu.

 

It looks like they went for a diverse cast, and there are even *gasp* some Asians in there. BB could learn a lesson from that, too.

 

The last and only time BB tried to pair people up, it was the season that Adam, the drug dealer, won. He was paired up with Sheila, the former Playboy model who couldn't stand him at all. That also turned into the raunchiest season ever, with blatant sex going on and some foul people, and that was never tried again.

 

I don't think The Amazing Race will have that problem, and it looks like there should be some eye-candy to suit just about everyone.

Vanck sounds like a real killjoy in his bio blurb. Poor Olive Beauregard, isn't that the mean girl's name in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? There's a lot of military/police officers this time around. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna hate Ashton.

Verruca Salt was the bad girl. Violet Beauregard was the one who chewed gum constantly and blew up like a blueberry.
