"Amazing Race" is not on the fall schedule at CBS. It will be jumping in sometime midseason. Probably means we only get one edition in the 2016-17 season.

Word is that season 30 will be cast, and they have a unannounced green light as to filming. In effect, TAR is the designated hitter for CBS to replace any faltering series on the fall schedule.

 

Meanwhile season 29 finished filming on Saturday.

It really has lacked a certain something in recent years. Without the element of strategy and big personalities butting heads like you get on Survivor and (sometimes) BB, TAR can seem stale.

 

It might do better as a once-a-year summer series paired with BB and with bigger challenges to make up for only having to produce a single season.

Taking this news with a grain of salt. Reality Blurred has been hilariously wrong in the past. Remember back in the summer when they said Audrey was coming back for the BB18 and then refused to back down, even when evidence flew right in their face?

I hope DC is right. TAR is one of the highlights of my week! My Aunt and I love watching it together, and have seen every single episode of those 30 seasons.

CBS announced the premiere date: Friday, April 21 at 8 p.m.

 

Seems like it will probably fill the reality TV void on CBS between Survivor (which starts March 8) and BB in June.

Either this is the last season or the Race will become a summer replacement show.
