theschnauzers Posted September 17, 2015 well, I'm one of those who had wished they had used season 25. But Phil has said going into filming this season that they are listening to the fans more, and the push to have the show return to its roots in how they cast the teams, and the route and tasks got through. The openness about the teams (open start lines) and the locations is something Bertram Van Munster has recently said he's all in favor of because it adds to the interest level and does not distract from it. The season 25 open start in Time Square at 3 am on a Saturday morning apparently convinced CBS that the openness helps the show worldwide. There are several previews out (including one at people.com, and a couple on CBS.com that look fantastic. I think you'll find that your fears are not justified by what we'll see/ Four Racers from this season have signed into RFF and they're peomising to comment about what happened as each episode airs; these are "superfans," so CBS casting has finally decided that should not disqualify interesting teams. I really am looking forward to this season. I feel a strong positive vibe, unlike the blind dating mess last season. (And I will bet we won't see that sort of mess again anytime soon.) ff174 Posted October 10, 2015 Was this The Amazing Race or The Amazing Stray Dog Chronicles? There must have been at least 20 strays running around.
karolm Posted October 12, 2015 I hope some got homes from publicity.
Lorelai28 Posted October 13, 2015 At least once I thought, "I wonder if those dogs are victims of horse-kicks."
ff174 Posted October 17, 2015 That episode was interesting because if reminded me of the very first TAR and the very first episode. In that first episode, the first destination was Zimbabwe and there was a Victoria Falls based clue. Now, if they bungee jump at Batoka Gorge next week, they will duplicate that part of TAR 1, Episode 1, too.
Tsylyst Posted October 17, 2015 I think that was the point someone was trying to make up-thread. This season visits past locations and tasks.
Tsylyst Posted October 24, 2015 So let's go over these challenges at Victoria Falls: 1) Sit in a microlight and find a flag 2) Paint a hunk of wood 3) Take tiny swings and walk about 10 feet while playing croquet 4) Jump 5) Paddle across a short stretch of river 6) Stand while being submerged in a cage 7) Walk around slowly in the bush 8) Walk around slowly in a preserve Not exactly thrilling tasks that make for DOOG TV. If it hadn't been for teams failing to read their clues, there would have been nothing worth watching here other than the scenery.
HammyGrammy Posted October 31, 2015 Am I the only one who had to listen to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance during commercial break?
Lorelai28 Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) Am I the only one who wishes that the producers would do away with the U-turn? One of the reasons I liked the show is the concept of who can make it from point A to point B in the least amount of time while performing interesting tasks along the way, no king-of-the-hill, no evictions or tribe speaking, just a clean race with teams occasionally misleading other teams in order to get ahead. I feel there's enough animosity between some teams; the producers didn't need to add to it like they do on the other shows. ETA: I wish Diana and Logan would just team up with each other and dump their respective partners. They'd probably do very well. ff174 Posted November 24, 2015 I don't like the Speed Bump, either. But I really don't like a Speed Bump that is overly burdensome. Hell, I remember one Speed Bump where the racers had to serve a bowl of fucking soup. Usually they have a sign announcing the Speed Bump. It's almost like they forgot that there was a Speed Bump and made it up at the last minute.
Lorelai28 Posted November 24, 2015 I agree that the Speed Bump was unusually difficult, but at least adding Speed Bumps eliminated the need for teams to give up all of their belongings and go begging in the streets in order to get anywhere on the leg following the non-elimination leg. Tsylyst Posted December 12, 2015 Don't thank anybody too soon...all this does is clear Justin and Diana to return in a future "Second Chances" or "All Stars" season.
ff174 Posted December 12, 2015 About half way through this episode, it was pretty obvious that Kelsey and Joey won. They were the only couple that the editors showed with after show interviews. We saw nothing of Justin and what's-her-face because he was blubbering during his post-finish line interviews. And, we didn't see any interviews of the paparazzi because they would have been scratching each others eyes out.
Disneypro Posted December 12, 2015 I'm happy that Kelsey & Joey won given the other two choices. What I'm not happy about is the fact that Justin didn't have a meltdown of apocryphal proportions when not only didn't his team win, but they didn't tie the win record either. When I realized that Kelsey and Joey were definitely going to be the winners, I ordered a pizza and grabbed the Reese's minis to settle in for what was sure to be a glorious moment. All we got was a bit of sniffling and a red face. No wailing. No snot. Nothing...so disappointed.
